Karen Talavera

With over 15 years in direct and online marketing, Karen Talavera is a seasoned integrated and email marketing expert. Possessing a background rich in traditional direct response and database marketing, her career spans a wide variety of roles at major marketing services providers leading up to the founding of Synchronicity Marketing in 2003.
Karen is a nationally recognized email marketing coach and educator. In 2000 she launched and continues to teach the two-day Comprehensive Email Marketing Strategies seminar for the Direct Marketing Association (DMA). She is also an instructor for the DMA’s Introduction to Email Marketing seminar, and throughout her tenure teaching these events, has increased the email marketing knowledge of literally thousands of marketers from across all major industries. Karen is also a Board Member of the Florida Direct Marketing Association (FDMA), and a member of the Marketing Executives Networking Group (MENG).
Prior to forming Synchronicity Marketing, Karen served as Vice President of Marketing for MarketsOnDemand, a direct marketing information and email services provider in Chicago. In that role she was integral in the company’s launch and responsible for its product development, marketing communications, and database strategy. During her tenure, she created the company’s product portfolio, established brand identity and built awareness of the firm, and developed customer acquisition programs that doubled revenue during the first year – ultimately resulting in the acquisition of the company by Acxiom Corporation in November 2002.
Before joining MarketsOnDemand in early 2001, Karen was Director of Marketing for Yesmail.com, a pioneer in permission email marketing. Prior to Yesmail.com, Karen spent nine years at Experian, the world’s largest consumer credit and direct marketing data provider, where she served as Director of Channel Marketing. In that role, Karen led industry and sales channel development for the $200-million-a-year direct marketing information services division.
Karen is an alumnus of the University of Michigan, speaks fluent Spanish and enjoys international travel. In her spare time you’ll find her relishing South Florida life and pursuing one of her many passions including Latin dance, yoga, outdoor sports, writing, and meditation.
